Heian-Jingu

Heian-Jingu.

The rows of big white things had me really puzzled for a long while. They are (empty) sake containers. (think beer barrel, but sake) I guess they are saying "we drunk this much sake at our last temple bash, so it must have been really good."

The wave crests on the roof are to "indicate" that the building below is under water, and thus cannot catch fire. As you can see, it has worked, and the wooden buildings are still standing.
